myrouter.local

To configure various settings for your Linksys router, such as port forwarding, wireless network setup, wireless network security, and LAN settings, you need to access the router’s web-based setup page. The default web address to access this interface is myrouter.local, and you can also use the IP address 192.168.1.1.

Logging in with myrouter.local

To access the Linksys router web interface through my router.local, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure your router is powered ON and establish a connection between your router and your PC.
    • It’s recommended to use a wired connection with an Ethernet cable. However, you can also use a wireless connection by connecting to the router’s WiFi network.
  2. Open a web browser on your PC or laptop.
  3. In the browser’s address bar, type either “http://myrouter.local” (the default web address) or “192.168.1.1” (the default IP address) and press Enter.
  4. A login page will appear, where you need to enter the default username and password:
    • Username: [Leave this field blank]
    • Password: admin
  5. If the login credentials are correct, you will be successfully logged into the web interface of the Linksys router.

Changing the Linksys WiFi Password

Here’s how to change the default WiFi password for your Linksys router:

  1. Log in to the web interface at myrouter.local or 192.168.1.1.
  2. Once logged in, go to the “Wireless” tab.
  3. Select “Wireless Settings.”
  4. Enter the new password in the “Passphrase” field and re-enter it for confirmation.
  5. Click “Save Settings.”
  6. The router password will be successfully changed. Note that once the password is changed, the WiFi will automatically disconnect from all connected devices. You need to reconnect using the new password.

Changing the Linksys Web-Based Setup Page Password

To enhance security, it’s recommended to change the default administrator password for the Linksys web management page. This password is separate from the wireless WiFi password and is used to access the web interface.

Here’s how to change the web-based setup page password:

  1. Log in to the web interface of the router using the method mentioned above.
  2. Once logged in, go to the “Administration” tab.
  3. In the left column, select “Management.”
  4. Enter the new password in the “Router Password” field and re-enter it for confirmation.
  5. Click “Save Settings.”

Now, the default router password will be changed, and you’ll only be able to access the web interface using the new password.

Forgot Router Password?

If you’ve changed the Linksys router password and forgotten it, you won’t be able to access the web interface. In this case, you can regain access by performing a factory reset on the router. This will reset all changes and settings, including the password, back to the default factory values.

Here’s how to factory reset your router:

  1. Look for the RESET button at the back of the router (usually small and hidden).
  2. Use a needle, paper clip, or a similar object to press and hold the RESET button for 10-15 seconds. Ensure the router is ON during this process.
  3. After 10-15 seconds, release the button. The LED lights will blink, and the router will reboot.
  4. After the reboot, everything will be reset to factory defaults, and you can log into the web interface using the default router password, which is “admin.”
